Miss Albemarle
MAggie TAYLOR mcmullan
Maggie McMullan is a Junior at Albemarle High School where she plays on the varsity soccer team. She plays on the SOCA u17 Elite team and the state ODP soccer team. Maggie is involved in Junior Classical League, Math Honor Society and the French Honor Society. Following high school, Maggie plans on attending a four year university and pursuing a career in physical therapy or psychology.
Miss Buckingham
PAYTON ELEANOR PEINS
Payton Peins is a student at Piedmont Virginia Community College. She plans to transfer to Old Dominion University and major in Marine Biology. Payton enjoys spending time with family and friends and her pets. Her hobbies include working on cars with her dad, hiking, photography and camping. Payton would like to own her own marine life rehabilitation center.
Miss Fluvanna
LOREN ALYSSA BLACK
Loren Black is a Sophomore at Fluvanna High School. She is Vice President of the Sophomore class, captain of the Junior Varsity volleyball and softball team, sings in the Crystal Clear Choir and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Loren enjoys singing in her church choir, lifeguarding in the summer, playing the piano, reading and volunteer work. After graduation, Loren plans on attending college and pursuing a doctorate in neuroscience with a focus on psychiatric and neurodevelopment disorders.
Miss Greene
DIAMOND ALEXIS BORTNER
Diamond Alexis Bortner is a Senior at William Monroe High School. She is a member of the High Horse Cloggers in Greene County and she enjoys giving back to her community and doing for others. Diamond loves to sing, especially to young children and watch their faces light up and she taught herself to yodel by watching YouTube videos. Diamond is currently employed by Umansky and plans to attend Piedmont Community College in the fall to major in Criminal Justice.
Miss Louisa
CARLEY RENEE DALLAS KNIGHT
Carley Knight is a Senior at Louisa High School. She is President of the National FFA chapter, a member of the volleyball team and a basketball cheerleader. Carley is a Junior Deacon at Louisa Christian Church, a member of the National Honor Society and a Lion Buddy mentor at a local elementary school. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, competitive floral design, horse evaluation and volunteering. Carley plans to attend Virginia Tech and obtain a Master’s degree in Vocational Education, majoring in Forestry with minors in Dairy Science and Agribusiness.
Miss Madison
eMILLEE MAKAYLA RUSSELL
Emillee Russell is a Junior at Madison High School. She plays softball and volleyball, is Vice President of the Varsity Club and in the 4-H Livestock Club. Emillee enjoys spending time with her three brothers and attending weekly Bible studies with her friends. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, hunting, sport shooting, shopping and four wheeling. Emillee plans to attend Virginia Tech and would like to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Miss Nelson
Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Nelson County does not have a representative on the 2018 Dogwood Court.
Miss Orange
COURTNEY YANCEY
Courtney Yancey is a Senior at Orange High School. She is a member of the field hockey team, soccer team, swim and dive team, Secretary of the Health and Fitness Club and a part of the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at the local animal shelter and the Orange County Humane Society. Courtney will be attending Bridgewater College to continue her education and play field hockey. She plans on majoring in Biology with a concentration in pre-veterinary studies, as well as a minor in both Spanish and Equine Science.
